Ms. Kushner writes a brilliant sharp medieval manners thriller that hooks readers from the moment Mother reads her brother's message that he wants to turn his niece into a great swordswoman. -- Harriet Klausner, SFRevu

Like Swordspoint, this is a really fine fantasy novel with not a hint of magic to be found in it anywhere. -- Elisabeth Carey, New England Science Fiction Association, Inc.
